Magnus Chase Review by Rishi Sharma

Magnus Chase is a book that was written by Rick Riordan. The plot follows a kid called Magnus Chase who was homeless. He finds out that he is the son of a Norse God. He died an honorable death and was sent to Valhalla, the afterlife for heroes in Norse mythology. With his friends, he must find a weapon called the Sword of Summer to save the world.

I enjoyed the book and thought it was entertaining. Although, I personally didn't like it as much as Rick Riordan's other books like Percy Jackson or Heroes of Olympus. It was a bit jarring transitioning from Greek mythology which I read a lot about in 5th grade to Norse mythology which I wasn't as knowledgeable in. I would give it an 8 out of 10 which is poor compared to Rick Riordan's standards.

  1. Hi Rishi! I also remember enjoying Magnus Chase, but not as much as his other works. Your review was accurate and to the point!

  3. Hello Rishi! I used to read most of Rick Riordan's books, and for some reason I never read this one series. It might have been because I was also used to Greek and Roman mythology, but reading this review gives me a new perspective on Norse mythology.

  4. Good review Wishi! I have read Magnus Chase too, and you hit the nail with your last sentence, as while it was good, Riordan's other works, like Percy Jackson, are superior.

  5. I have never gotten into the Magnus Chase series, largely because I thought it strayed to far from the usual mythology from some of his other books, but you make this book sound more worthwhile than I was giving it credit.
