The Murder of Roger Ackroyd Review by Rishi Sharma

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is a book written by Agatha Christie in 1926. The book is well written for the time and can be understood today despite the older conventions. The plot revolves around the murder of rich man in a small town in England. The man that was murdered was called Roger Ackroyd and he was a local celebrity. In the book, you follow Dr. James Sheppard. The book is written in first person. Because Roger Ackroyd was murdered, a famous detective called Hercule Poirot comes to the town to solve the murder. There are multiple different suspects including Flora and the butler Mr. Parker. In the book, you follow James accompanying Hercule Poirot trying to solve the crime and find the murder.

I really enjoyed this book because it was thrilling trying to find out who the murderer is. I decided to categorize and write down who I thought was the suspect. This greatly raised my enjoyment of the book because I felt like a detective. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy detective novels. Agatha Christie has a whole catalog full of detective novels if those books interest you.

  7. Good review Rishi! I've never read any murder mysteries, but this seems like a good start. I'm glad you didn't put any spoilers into the review but it was still descriptive enough to know what it was about. It wouldn't be very intriguing if you had included spoilers about a mystery novel.

  8. It's like doing two things at a time: reading AND acting as a detective. I think this just makes it way more investing.
