To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han was the first YA romance novel that I read, which introduced me to a whole new genre and a variety of stories to explore. The first time I heard about this book was after I watched the Netflix adaptation in 2018, which I loved, so I thought I would read the books too so I could know what happened beyond what the movie covered.

The story's protagonist is Lara Jean, a high school girl who has written love letters for the five main crushes she's had in her life, but not to send, just to keep in a box. She wrote those letters to get over her crushes, but all of that comes crashing down when a boy in her class, Peter, confronts her about the inaccuracies in a letter she wrote to him and she realizes someone sent out all those letters without her knowing. Then when her sister's ex-boyfriend Josh asks about his letter, she panics and tells him that she's dating Peter, and she and Peter decide to pretend they're a couple so Josh and Lara Jean can go back to normal and Peter can make his ex jealous.

From harmful rumors to family drama, To All The Boys I've Loved Before has a plot that'll keep you engaged and interested. Though I read it a while ago, I still remember feeling involved in the story, especially with Lara Jean's occasional questionable choices regarding her love life. But overall, though the romance was cheesy and somewhat predictable, I think it's a good book, and I would recommend it to readers who want a light but entertaining romance novel.

  2. Chloe, I'm glad you reviewed this book! I was thinking of starting to read the book series, after watching the Netflix series a couple of times. It's hard to imagine how I want the characters to look like in my head when I already know what they look like. Even so, I might give the series a try now that I've read your review!
