Lord of the Flies Review by Rishi Sharma

Lord of the Flies was written William Golding in 1954. The book is about a plane crash that left school children stranded on an island. There were 7 main characters. The main characters were Ralph, Jack, Simon, Piggy, Roger, Sam, and Eric. The boys would split into 2 groups led by Ralph and Jack. Ralph was a nice person that wanted to be rescued. Piggy was smart but whiny. Jack was a self-centered kid that wanted to hunt and kill the other kids. The 2 factions would eventually fight and kill each other.

This book is a little slow at times but the overall narrative and themes was very good. The imagery was very vivid whether it be the animals or the lush canopy with the flowing oceans. It is sometimes difficult to understand the writing as it was written in the 1950s. It was still written well enough for the ideas and themes to be communicated in an understandable way. I'll give the book a 7.5 out of 10.
